The October ceasefire in Gaza has brought some desperately needed relief after two years of atrocities. But much more needs to be done.

Israel should fully lift its unlawful blockade and facilitate rebuilding. States should support accountability for grave crimes committed.

The terrorists say they have handed over the bodies of all the hostages they could reach

Hamas said on Wednesday that it had returned to Israel the remains of all the hostages it could access and that it would require special recovery equipment to reach more remains promised under the truce. The militant group spoke in these terms as it delivered two more bodies to Israel. 'The Resistance has fulfilled its commitment under the agreement by handing over all Israeli prisoners alive in its custody, as well as the remains it could access,' the armed wing of the movement said in a statement released on social media. It added: 'Regarding the remaining bodies, extensive efforts and special equipment will be required for their recovery and extraction. We are making a great effort to close this matter.' Related News Hamas delivered on Wednesday the bodies of two dead hostages to the Red Cross, which handed them to Israeli troops to take them back to Israeli territory. With these bodies, nine have been returned to Benjamin Netanyahu's government. Since Monday, under a ceasefire negotiated by President Donald Trump, Hamas has returned 20 surviving hostages in exchange for the release of nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners from Israeli jails. Israeli Defense Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir instructed the army last Wednesday to prepare an integrated plan to defeat Hamas in Gaza if the war resumes, according to a statement. Palestinian authorities denounce a 'brutal' beating of imprisoned Palestinian leader Marwan Barghouti. The Palestinian Prisoners Information Office, linked to Hamas, denounced on Wednesday that Barghouti was 'brutally' assaulted by Israeli security guards until he lost consciousness during his transfer to another prison. Al-Fatah, the party of the President of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, has 'fully held Israel responsible' for what happens to the Palestinian leader and has stressed in a statement published on its social networks that this 'barbaric attack will not break his will,' while noting that this constitutes a violation of international law. This comes after Israeli Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir visited Barghouti in his cell and threatened him. 'Whoever messes with the nation of Israel, who murders our children and our women, will be erased from the face of the earth,' the ultranationalist politician said.
