Do you know about the Athenian process of “sortition”. I like the idea. It’s like, if you have to give some people extra power, better to give it to random citizens instead of to someone who works for it.

Maybe they could do something different to get more speed out of the hardware-accelerated SHA256 implementation. If you see how, I'm sure they'd be happy to see the patch.

The btrfs filesystem devs are considering adding BLAKE3 as a "checksum", and in this experiment of these implementations on this CPU, the pure-software BLAKE3 implementation is four times as fast as the hardware-accelerated SHA256: github.com/kdave/btrfs-...

Oh wait I was confusing David’s Sling with EarthWeb (1999). Now that I remember more, they are *both* increasingly relevant to the second half of the 2020’s in different ways. I should re-read both, but EarthWeb more, because PolyMarket.
