I think we do need some kind of theology that accounts for sins against humanity that cause all manner of ills. (Greed causing climate chaos for ex). But not if that theology results in "you personally did this sin and that's why you have x sickness."

I would say false. It's because people believe this to be true that someone asked my grandma who had MS whether she had any sin in her life that had caused her disability.
