Finished WARN-D data collection, all cohorts/waves. Cleaning & deidentifying data now so we can share w research community.

First look at compliance rates: left 3mo EMA data, right baseline + follow-ups. Super happy with this.

Thx to @rayyantutunji.bsky.social for quick graphs.

I've been talking about basic DM practices like better documentation, good record keeping, spending time planning, and standardizing practices for a long time (and others talked about it long before me).

But these things still aren't happening in many projects. So I'll keep getting the word out. 😊📣

We have 3 months open text data for N=2000 in which we ask 4/day what they are doing & some other questions (eg worst/best events of day).

Want to de-identify data before sharing.

1. How?
2. Anyone interested in collaborating? Surveys in Dutch/English, perhaps interesting paper for someone?

Our team quantified how often clinical prediction models are evaluated or used. Spoiler alert: we found more self-reported clinical use in patient care than evidence of thorough evaluation.

I'm not sure it's ethical to be conducting associational studies for such socially important exposures as smartphone use in schools.

Either conduct a causal study or don't do anything. Demonstrating the presence or absence of non causal association is not helpful and may end up being misleading.
Smartphone bans in schools are not associated with better mental wellbeing or reduced screen-time out of school buff.ly/C8Zo4PQ

Folks, always share your code. It doesn’t have to be perfect to be helpful. And if you feel that it’s still too messy or not sufficiently clean to be shared, you shouldn’t submit yet. After all, there could be mistakes in your mess.

Looking back on the pandemic as scientists, the most important thing we can do is to ask "what evidence could I have helped generate that would have led to better decisions?" and then plan accordingly.

Continuing to "debate" what coulda/shoulda but didn't is much less helpful. Except for clicks.
