I looked it up and apparently the two squares exist because they are sister cities!

I'm not shitting you. Apparently there was the very strong view that the eyeballing relied on much less strong assumptions.

A while back I was told that the statistical method I had crafted carefully, testing several cutoff values of a threshold, was arbitrary because it relied on a numerical threshold. The alternative which was eyeballing a distribution and guessing an inflection point was viewed as much more rigid.
