Meet the playbooks!

@yushuv.bsky.social plays "The Fable". Think "bard", but rather than spinning captivating tales and slinging inspiring songs, The Fable's stories bend reality itself and alter fate by sheer force of will. It is so, because The Fable says it is so.

It _is_ very good!
People should play it!

The key is thinking about what's happening in the fiction. Are you using the treasure as a tool, or are you calling upon its magical properties?

The mechanics should follow the narrative, not the other way around.

You DO need to mark or burn Power when:

• The move specifically tells you to use Power (mark/burn)
• The GM decides the action is complicated or strenuous enough to require it
• It narratively makes sense that you're tapping into the item's magical power

The short answer: it depends on the situation.

If you're doing something straightforward – like breaking down a door with your magical coin – you don't need to spend Power. You're just using it as a heavy object.

Meet the playbooks!

In our Anthology sessions, where @jonobarel.bsky.social learns to run the game, @icel.me's playbook is "The Tempest", a character whose Divine potential manifests as barely-controlled chaos that can erupt in explosive power. Ascencion manifests as raw weather and emotion.
