29, he/him, bad at social media. Playing Earthbound for the first time, casually rewatching Assassination Classroom

Begrudgingly American, DNI if you don't have a problem with who's currently in office
Yea I'd say this tracks. BG3 has been an ongoing weekend co-op project. FF7 Rebirth I got for Christmas. Yakuza is Yakuza

Alas, my attempts to get stuck into both Elden Ring and Balatro didn't pan out too much

I expect next year will have higher numbers as I drop Xbox

Alright so Earthbound

I get it

Biggest fight in the game was managing the tiny inventory, and the difficulty balancing is all over the place but, I get it. The writing, the ending, the unique combat and gameplay mechanics, the absurdity of it all. This is absolutely a special game

QTP with your favorite Main Protagonist in a video game that's NOT Mario nor Sonic

I agree with the idea of not trying to choose one lol

I'm choosing to interpret "not Mario nor Sonic" as anyone from those series, otherwise Luigi or Bowser easily makes it

Eh, I see other people doing it, so why not #promosky

-Games-
Nintendo
Yakuza
Kingdom Hearts
Ace Attorney
Sonic
Platformers
RPGs

-Anime-
Dandadan
Assassination Classroom
Frieren
Dunmeshi
Sakamoto Days

Trying to get better about being active here, but better at 1 on 1s than social media lol

These are some games I hope/plan to play next year. You got any?

Here ya go friend lol

Honorable Mentions

Death's Door: Favorite not new game of the year, only tried cuz I was still on Game Pass and it was leaving the service

Xenoblade X Definitive Edition: Felt like cheating to include this as an actual goty contender cuz...well...it's Xenoblade lol
November 16, 2025 at 4:38 PM
Top 4 games finished this year, why not

Silksong: A friend and I still use Silksongs as a measure of value lol

DK Bananza: First DK I've fallen in love with

Pirate Yakuza: I mean duh

Split Fiction: Absolute must play co-op game

DK and Split Fiction also have two of my fave endings in games

Games beaten for the first time this year so far, listed in order of completion. I said I would do this a few days ago and forgot lol

I haven't finished AW2 Lake House or Earthbound yet, but absolutely will before years end
November 16, 2025 at 4:06 PM
Valid contenders for me include DK Bananza, Split Fiction, and Pirate Yakuza. But I ultimately have to give it to Silksong

Not only did I adore it at least as much as the others, there's what it represents. An indie studio bowing to nobody allowed to make exactly what they wanted, sold for $20

That's just a very funny sentiment to me

Every Xbox Game Studios release on PS or Switch consoles, discounting ones that were obviously going to be multiplat from the start (Call of Duty, Doom, Diablo, Tony Hawk, etc.)

Only marginally related, I'd also say it's easier, for me at least, to think of major series that got exclusive PS4/XB1 releases that still haven't got a PS5/Series release, than the other way around, tho obviously this doesn't take into account IP that started on new hardware, or smaller IP
October 11, 2025 at 3:32 PM
Shown here is a similar chart for other "AAA" series I could think of that relatively consistently has one or two major releases per console, and as we see here, the results are similar, with over half of IP taking longer to come to PS5 than they did with PS4.
October 11, 2025 at 3:32 PM
As you can see, in the majority of cases, IP stayed crossgen (releasing on both PS4 and PS5) longer than they did for PS3 and PS4, sometimes quite drastically so. Just Dance is a *fascinating* exception, likely tied to that series greater success on Nintendo hardware in comparison.

I will never forgive Sega for this

Borderline false goddamn advertising
October 9, 2025 at 11:52 PM
Finding out that Scan didn't work on bosses threw me for a bit of a loop I have to be honest lol

But hey, some of the writing is excellent
October 5, 2025 at 1:44 AM
These for me. Got them once on a whim, changed my damn life, then like two years later they got discontinued. Hurt my soul
October 1, 2025 at 2:02 PM
Look, I respect that his opinion is likely more valid than mine actually being in the industry, this?

Game companies have shown time and time again that they will do ANYTHING to pinch that last dime from your wallet and couldn't care less about staff. Sorry, that blind optimism just isn't it
September 14, 2025 at 11:37 PM
I see they bumped the price up a bit from earlier...
September 13, 2025 at 1:39 AM
Very very worth noting I think that the game appears to be shipping on a regular cartridge, not a key card
September 12, 2025 at 3:45 PM
I looked on their website and I thiiiink soooooo...
September 12, 2025 at 3:44 PM
The prophecy has been fulfilled
September 4, 2025 at 2:29 PM
Not blaming anyone, but I'm still playing DK, getting Silksong when it comes out, really enjoyed the demo for the new Shinobi and it's getting these kinda reviews?

Too many damn games, it's just not faaaaiiiir
