Reluctant multidisciplinary polymath who recently discovered music. Marcus Aurelius, Diogenes, and Nietzsche walk into a bar. I'm the punchline.

ATSI, he/him, equally content with "hey you". Neurodiverse in the CNS event way. Anti hate & slop/harmful AI.
(stink)Bug.

AI's genie is out of the bottle. So thus week I leaned into it for the Sprout's learning. She had to use it to design an experiment about friction.

When she finished, I asked her not about what she was doing for the experiment, but why she was doing it. What the outcome was going to be.

Thinking.

Don't forget that you're allowed to rest, you're allowed to grieve, you're allowed to heal. You're allowed to breathe.

How to make money in Pet Battling game dev.

1) Start a game project
2) Receive C&D by Nintendo
3) Frame the demand, sell it

So. If nothing else seems good, we beat the nazi wannabes here.

And if you feel like you didn't achieve anything, remember that survival is an accomplishment today.

Be kind to yourself.

The collapse of the Liberal party in Australia has sadly only fed the membership of One Nation.

And as soon as they got a lick of power, they flipped full fascist. Not rhetorical "I don't like them", textbook.

Thankfully, the NSN here also collapsed. Small blessings.

Going to be building up a new "queer+" #writers group for meets in #Adelaide if anyone knows anyone who'd like to join.

Today I realised that my being a dad might help with my tolerance to AI.

I'm already well versed in something confidently and enthusiastically butchering a task it volunteers to do.

Trump trying to control every other country is lowkey hilarious because the people who voted for him are getting to cheer for someone that's aiming for globalism.

One major step I am so happy with for this year's push to sort out my digital organising:

Inbox nirvana.

I manage a lot of email boxes for my hats. Now instead of the mental weight of thousands of unread entries, it's all sorted.

I don't think I already posted about this, but if so, apologies.

In Australia, DHS stands for the Department of Human Services.

Still a PITA to deal with, but they (theoretically) help our vulnerable.

Desk cords managed. Yorkshire pudding batter mixed. Cookie ingredients aside. Beef pie assembled. Now sorting new grep standards for my TODO lists.

Naming my RZ tool versions in Kaurna. Naming other apps versions in Pitjantjatjara. Naming game versions in Ngarrindjeri.

It's going to take me a while to tune out the constant push for productivity. At least it's on my own terms now.

Marked graphic because some folks are bothered by spiders.

The "window spider" (badumna family) though in Language I only know it as waka. Because of their fondness for tube structures and webbing, they're often called "Adelaide funnel webs", but they aren't dangerous.

Painful, yes. Danger, no.

Busy night. Busy morning.

I am *very* happy with grepping my TODO lists for my suite-to-be.

I'll push the update now to get it online, but the navbar's new elements (status indicator, light/dark mode) and nav page layout are a bit cramped on smaller window sizes.

Internet fix (again) today.

Frittata au bacon et aux tomates rôties, followed by a "sugar free" almond, coconut, and white chocolate cake.

Meanwhile, Luna tired of her cat TV and slept.

The problem with joining your cat in a nap as she lounges in your lap is the awkward joint tension when you get blood back in your legs hours later.

My headset died, so now I've had to swap *again* to a new one. Microphone on it is pretty good, but now I'm getting artifacts in my recording.

Recording session kept being interrupted on main today. Still made good progress.

Ich variiere den Text etwas, aber „if it's stupid but it works, it ain't stupid“. Es hilft meinem Deutschen, manche Wörter in Silben zu zerlegen, die für mein Englisch funktionieren.
January 9, 2026 at 6:45 AM
To keep from burnout, I'm using the rule of one.

One code TODO checked off.
One folder sorted on my PC.
One file digitised.
One moving box unpacked.
One rehearsal/recording session.
One study session.
One writing sprint.

Some days, these will be bigger. Some days, shorter. But I can push safely.
