Just this guy, you know? (he/him)

gamer (videot and TTRPG), avid reader, coffee lover, and music lover.

Queer, hermit, and sometimes tired of the world.

I cook for a living.

One thing I've been learning as I use social media less.

Don't bother responding just because I feel the need to be right or have the last word. Ultimately no one cares.

Don't bother responding if I can't add to the conversation.

Don't bother responding if someone is straight up dismissive.
X-Files

As time went on it was easy to forget a few things about Mulder. He had a BA degree in psychology. He was the rising star as a profiler. He actually had a lot of political pull and had made the right friends.

He was, in fact, a big deal even if he was focused on the X-Files.

Almost done with Dungeon Crawler Carl. Which has been a fantastic series, and I have to wait till June for more.

Now what to read next, I have a stuff on Kindle Unlimited marked plus a lot of books downloaded.

Also just got the Spawn comics series off of Humble, so I guess I have options.

The GOP argument that seems to be putting forth that raping 15 year olds is sorta okay put some of the other GOP moves in the last couple years into new light.

They have been pushing to lower the age that children work and so on, so as to change the perspective of what a child is.

So great that the cowards decided to end the shutdown while getting nothing.

They didn't give a shit about the people being hurt until it was the rich who got hurt. Once flights were getting cancelled and it affected the monied class suddenly the shutdown needed to end.

The rich own our government

Every news story about how such and such generation is killing an industry or how it's struggling because people aren't buying anymore needs a different title.

Employers, including the ones at the struggling business, have cut their own throats by refusing to pay living wages.

Finally got around to reading the first book of Dungeon Crawler Carl.

Damn, it was really enjoyable. Easy read, fun.

On to book two!

Hiding away from the world today and organizing. I moved almost two months ago now, and am slowly putting things away.

Today I'm mostly working on organizing my vinyl. It's nice to see what all I have, and because I had done several 'grab bags' I have a bunch of albums I haven't listened to yet.

spent the days sorta zoned out and just played Pokemon Legends Z-A

Overall enjoying the game, but there was thing in it that I felt accelerated everything too quickly and I sorta don't like that.

On the other hand, I got a Gyarados as early on as I could and have dominated fights.

I keep seeing screenshots of (generally) far-right types arguing with Grok or other AIs.

They use the same generally bad-faith arguments with the AI that they use with a real person.

But because the AI can't get emotional it just keeps repeating the answer that pissed the person off.

Been doing nothing but working, and I work nights, so more or less not affected by war-torn Portland.

Day off, so I shall visit a farmers market and go out into the world.

A co-worker who has been on deployment was suppose to return, but instead got deployed to Portland. Sorta funny.

This morning I ended up being a bit hyperfocused on getting art up on the wall. Of course that wasn't the project I really needed to do, so of course it's what I ended up doing.

But that's okay, because at least it did need to be done at some point.

Down to around a dozen boxes to unpack.

Right now in the organize and fix up things stage before I get to those. Most of them are sorta random stuff anyways.

I really need to take care of my DOOM boxes though. I don't think I have the energy for that today though. We shall see.

I hate dealing with file sharing sometimes.

For some reason I can't get the sharing stuff to work, even after I turn off all password requirements and so on.

At this point I'm just annoyed and will deal with it another time.

I hate how much of a pain it can be.

Robert Redford passed away, though he was almost 90 so it wasn't like he was cut short.

I always enjoyed films he was in, and apparently he was majorly responsible for pushing independent films and creating the Sundance festival.

Tonight I'll watch one of my favorite movies with him, Sneakers.

Charlie Kirk was a terrible person who was personally responsible for saying a lot of horrible things and spreading misinformation.

He never cared about having a dialogue with others.

He believed people being murder was okay in the name of the 2nd amendment.

He is now another victim of it.

I hate when people advocate for "employees should get paid for their commute".

Because they are not really thinking.

There are a few unintended consequences of such an action.

Day 3 of vacation and moving.

I've gotten a few of my 'problem children' pieces of furniture moved, and I think I'll be okay with the last couple difficult pieces. Even got a vacuum bag for the mattress which should make it manageable.

So yay for moving solo?
August 27, 2025 at 1:27 PM
Day one of vacation and I got almost none of my move done and feel sick. Probably from working too many hours recently.

Dammit, tomorrow I gotta get moving and get this done!

Living in a second floor apartment makes me sorta regret all the books I have.

The hardest are my cookboos and TTRPG books because they are almost all hard bound and heavy.

We'll see how much I get done of that before I give up and hand the rest to a moving company.

Fuck, I'm outta shape.

I'm a little disappointed that the new critical role campaign won't be using Daggerheart.

I guess with how Hasbro / WotC has acted the last couple years I've fallen out of love with the D&D rules. I don't want to give the company my money anymore, or my attention.

But people hate change.
August 21, 2025 at 10:01 PM
Other news in my life.

I am switching to graveyard shift permanently.

I'll be on 4 10 hour shifts, so with three days off I'll feel like I actually get time away. I did this last month for three weeks and enjoyed it.

Pays an extra $3.50 an hour, which is pretty nice. Also less people.
August 15, 2025 at 6:00 PM
Finally, got approved for the new apartment.

Move-in isn't until Monday, but that's okay. I'll just keep packing, plus because I know I have a place I can get my 30 day notice in for where I am at.
August 15, 2025 at 5:39 PM
Damn, I hate packing.

Mostly books

I have so many books.
August 15, 2025 at 4:37 AM
I don't understand why people actually care which rules set that Critical Role uses.

Are we really so wedded to D&D that it has to be that?

The rules are just an underlying framework to hang the story on.
August 4, 2025 at 11:59 PM
I've spent the past couple years just being burned out. No creativity, no drive for it.

I'm going to sit down and change that, I need to.

So I have the Daggerheart rules here. Which sound to be pretty flexible. So I think I'll sit down, learn those rules, and get a setting put together.
