I’m a big ESG nerd. ❤️ ⚡️🚗, 🪴, 🐕, and anything that helps folks live a more sustainable life. Let's focus on what we can do, today, to mitigate climate change!

I've spent 4 decades on 🌏, and the better part of 3 driving 🚗🔋⚡️. Lets help folks upgrade
December's almost over. Rivian didn't provide any solid details on pricing etc for the R2 at the LA Auto Show, it's supposed to launch H1 '26, they're -4% in CA and -13% in U.S... Anyone asking RJ actual real questions?

Nope.

Especially when talking market share in general. Toyota could fold tomorrow and it wouldn't have any impact on the EV market.

And V2H/G!! It’s great to see the New England area at the top of the demand destruction chart nationally, shows how much has been done already in the name of efficiency etc.
December 7, 2025 at 8:56 PM
Not only that, we need to see the major population centers *increasing* their share of renewables not the opposite. It'll be fun to check these graphs at the end 2026 with with Vineyard Wind hopefully having been operational for the year.

It's meh, but that's toyota, their entire business model is meh.

As I often say, carmakers not competing globally, right now on innovative, affordable BEVs are in trouble, Toyota included.

Toyota could fail and it wouldn't impact the U.S. EV market one bit. Barely more than Kia Niro.

Farley just can't find enough mechanics for all these recalls! 🤯

I've been enrolled in Recurrent Automotives' data tool basically since the IONIQ 5 launched and I know they utilize data of tens of thousands of EVs to build their reports on, range, etc, but didn't know much about the data they pull in field to corroborate with Voltest - very cool!

Also, never saw a reply of course.

Solar in China: <$0.10 a watt
Battery storage: <$0.07 a wh
Nuclear in China: ~$2.00 a watt

It’s so unserious and obviously a play to delay renewable adoption for fossil fuels (intentionally or not)

And fossil fuel pollution. All the solar in the world without one iota of focus on demand destruction has resulted in increased pollution along with renewable deployment, showing market driven is decades behind science and legislation derived policy. Most their demand is fossil fuel production.

When someone hit me and a half dozen other vehicles, totaling my e-Golf I needed something quickly to replace it and, as luck would have it, the Niro HEV launched that month and I bought it, first gen, brand new vehicle, and drove it 85k miles. Appreciate Alex’s commentary on this of overlooked 💎
December 7, 2025 at 3:28 PM
Why not replace with an actual 90’s Honda BEV too to match the rest.

Miss driving the EV+
December 7, 2025 at 3:17 PM
Totally, just saying they're not selling them because they have worked tirelessly to increase the average vehicle price and removing affordable lower options were a big part of their bleed Americans Dry strategy.

Well, I didn’t comprehend their entire app is offline, not sure P&C would work independent of whatever backend handles the App. 🫣

The studies linked in the article delve into it.

Globally, the shift away from overpriced premium and away from excessive range EVs to more reasonably priced option with faster charging instead of greater range has been very rapid; with customers being savvy and preferring quicker charging vs excessive range.
December 6, 2025 at 6:27 PM
Some of this neu Klasse launch has felt a little antiquated, focusing on max charger speed but not average, HMG e-GMP approx benchmark charging times, not Chinese.

Germany's ADAC does a great job here suggesting to manufacturers when advertising charging, avg not peak.
December 6, 2025 at 6:27 PM
Also wild to see folks shocked at how often they need to go back in for recalls, while Ford is the WORST manufacturer for recalls (3x worse than Chrysler, 5.5x worse than GM, 7.5x worse than Hyundai). Maverick was an interesting proposition but why are unending recalls surprising owners?..
December 6, 2025 at 5:36 PM
Wild folks pay a premium for this.
December 6, 2025 at 5:31 PM
I'm going to need to start a separate "car conflation" thread that focuses exclusively on the "Farley F*cks Ford" angle.

Yup, ~$5k if you want a black roof.
December 6, 2025 at 5:31 PM
Sounds like a Ford problem.
December 6, 2025 at 4:57 PM
Plenty of small options 🤙🏽
December 6, 2025 at 4:08 PM
Indeed, trumps doing it at the lobbying of U.S. automakers and all they want to do is squeeze every dollar they can from U.S. consumers. That’s it. Oh, sorry, and make U.S. kids sicker by fighting EV incentives and clean air, while increasingly offshoring production.

🤮

What, half a decade since the last goal plants shut down, just, smh.
December 6, 2025 at 3:28 AM
Likely no different than Toyota?
