What, undermine HMT‘s monopolistic hoarding of fiscal policy and power for the good of the country? Absolutely not.

Their kin lives on in the NSW XPT for a few more years as well

It was pathetic then and it’s pathetic now - more so even given the demonstrable issues with govt policy, eg failing to negotiate SAFE participation.
December 14, 2025 at 1:02 AM
Like hiding behind the bond markets, this is rather pathetic. Doubly so when actions - which matter more than words in this regard - do not match the rhetoric.

This is the same govt that fumbled SAFE negotiations over money, after all.

This was my take on it without blatantly trying to rip off GNER as well as nodding to BR blue and grey and IC executive.

They’re utterly, utterly deluded
December 13, 2025 at 2:54 AM
National Labour leadership seem so utterly oblivious that only the tidal wave hitting will remotely wake them up … swiftly followed by a PLP that’s recently discovered regicide is indeed an option.

Proof that green parties are, more often than not, not interested in solutions.

Kiss of death

What a fantastic time for the UK to find itself outside the EU with a premier tied up in red lines …
December 12, 2025 at 12:08 PM
No French politician would be seen dead in those shoes …
December 12, 2025 at 8:25 AM
They’d probably stick to it to „reach out“ and all that nonsense instead of acknowledging the siren song and break away.
December 12, 2025 at 8:20 AM
Ah, HMT …
December 12, 2025 at 8:08 AM
Can anyone actually defend a system where delivering on local infrastructure upgrades grind to a halt - such that the Prime Minister of a G7/ P5 nation needs to get involved - over a fucking brick bus shelter that appears to lack any conservation merit?

Why is this bus shelter so special? Anyone?
December 12, 2025 at 7:06 AM
Summe up everything that’s wrong with the approach to planning in the UK if a row over an unimpressive bus shelter being replaced warrants the PM‘s intervention.

Starmer: „oh look, another opportunity to disappoint my base and suck up to Trump“
December 12, 2025 at 6:26 AM
GBR can use it free of charge for all I care as long as they don’t eventually go with the 3 Röntgen for ed livery from yesterday.
December 11, 2025 at 3:14 PM
For slower/ local/ regional services, the same base is followed, except there's no white window band and the cheat line doesn't have an angled end - both to differentiate it from (faster) inter-city services.
December 11, 2025 at 2:40 PM
To differentiate the service, "Inter-City" follows the Rail Symbol.

To identify the buffet car, "Buffet" written on the respective car in English and Scottish Gaelic (both spelled the same per Google Translate) and Welsh.
December 11, 2025 at 2:40 PM
Firstly, the Inter-City version.

Nodding to BR's blue and grey livery, the base is dark blue with a white window band. The ends of which are angled (and handed) to reflect the central bar of the Rail Symbol as well as to emphasise speed.

Accenting this is a flame red cheat line similarly angled.

If the LibDems had half a fucking brain they’d be pushing EEA membership as it would be much harder for Labour to oppose. Alas, not.
