I’ve posted about this before, but the second to last time I ever saw my grandmother, she told my wife & I a story about a neighbor yelling at her that she should go back to her country. This was pre-Covid & I have no idea why this was important to her at the time.

Nothing useful to say about today other than if you can do a kindness today, it’s worth doing. Help the people you know, the people you don’t, and appreciate what sharing your vulnerability gives to the people around you and yourself. Own it so others can’t.

I called my reps. It’s fun and easy to do. Don’t plan your calls, just riff. Sometimes I call them big dog because that’s where the mood takes me. You don’t have to be eloquent, Nike just do it baby
So the House is going to vote TOMORROW on the DHS funding bill that includes funding for ICE.
There's a real chance we can get Dems to vote NO on any bill with ICE funding to sink it.
Once it goes to the Senate we likely lose this chance.

This time last year I was really struggling to be online because I felt a lot of despair over the tl. Things are still bad, but it’s somehow easier to see how many people are interesting, empathetic, and kind. Appreciating the flip in perspective for now at least.

I supported the striking workers of this paper for much of the strike process only to see them return to work last month and walk out jobless now today. Shame on the Block family for running this institution and its sister paper the City Paper out of print.
NEW: Publishers of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette announce they are shutting down the newspaper on May 3, 2026.
Hours ago, the Supreme Court of the US declined to extend a stay on a court order for the paper to pay its journalists following the end of a 3-year strike.
