A great victory for a local community, and for inclusive education!

Defaulting to close the non-faith school should never be the answer to falling roll numbers across schools of different types, especially as the non-faith school is the only one that actually caters to everybody.
Great news! Hotwells Primary School will NOT merge with a Church of England school and will remain open as the neighbourhood’s only non-faith school option. Well done to all the parents who led this campaign – phenomenal work!

Been working on a nice project with Middlesbrough Council's Neighbourhood Caretakers to give Saltwells Park in my ward a bit of tlc.

The team have repainted the fencing and equipment, as well as tidying the area and cutting back the shrubbery.

It's looking much better!

We will remember everyone.

Everyone who fought, who lived, who died, and every conscientious objector, too.

We will remember their sacrifice.

We will remember their belief in freedom, and the common humanity that unites us.

More good news! We argued strongly for primary citizenship. It builds empathy, debate, and responsibility from day one, and we’re delighted to see scientific literacy elevated. In an age of misinformation, helping pupils test claims against evidence is a vital skill.

Some wonderful news this morning 🎉

We've campaign on this for decades. Now, we look forward to working with the UK Government to make it happen.

When it comes to religion and belief, children deserve an objective, broad, and balanced education.

The bollards were paid for with some of our Priorities Fund allocation - an investment of £1750!

Most people are shocked to learn that ALL state-funded in schools are legally required to hold daily acts of worship.

We’re campaigning to change that – and replace worship with assemblies that all children can participate in.

Across the UK, thousands of children are still being denied the fair education every child deserves – shut out of local schools because their families are the ‘wrong’ faith, or hidden away in illegal ones with no real lessons at all.

What? No. Religion in schools should be taught about from an objective and broad view, giving children the chance to think for themselves about what they believe. Learning about different religions or beliefs is not 'brainwashing'. What is closer to indoctrination is insisting on Christian-only RE.
