FORAGING REPORT SURVIVED You foraged through the woods with moderate confidence, bagging seven out of ten correct choices. Your early mistakes cost you dearly. You ate the Beautiful Coral mushroom first, which made your stomach feel vaguely unsettled for hours. Then you confidently bit into a Slippery Jack, which gave you mild gastrointestinal distress that lingered uncomfortably into the afternoon. The real test came in round nine when you grabbed a Fly Agaric. The muscimol and ibotenic acid hit you like a philosophical question you didn't ask. Reality became negotiable. Trees started asking your opinions. You spent three hours convinced that the forest floor was actually the ceiling, and honestly it was kind of nice up there. The altered perception faded by evening, leaving you mostly intact and moderately enlightened. Your later choices redeemed you completely. You wisely avoided the Yellow Stainer and the Fool's Funnel, mushrooms that would have actually ruined your week with serious gastrointestinal catastrophe. Between the mild GI distress, the strange afternoon of temporary dimensionality, and general queasiness, you stumbled out of the woods slightly greener and considerably wiser. You survived, barely.

Well, 5 minutes in and I can already tell this thing is exactly as faithful of a Nintendo 64 recreation as advertised; I did *not* expect putting a Summercart in it to work at all, let alone running a ROM from it, let alone running Rogue Squadron from it with no issues, yet here we are.

My Analogue 3D arrived today; forgot I preordered one months ago lmao
An Analogue 3D console with a third-party N64 controller plugged into it. In the top slot is a Summercart 64 with some version of the Zig64 demo ROM loaded onto it; will be interesting to see if it runs!

The newly-announced Steam Frame allegedly runs SteamOS on ARM, and will support running games “standalone” (ARM emulation?), so there's some more hope on that front.

I'm suddenly reminded of this classic.
Here's the thing. You said a "jackdaw is a crow." Is it in the same family? Yes. No one's arguing that. As someone who is a scientist who studies crows, I am telling you, specifically, in science, no one calls jackdaws crows. If you want to be "specific" like you said, then you shouldn't either. They're not the same thing. If you're saying "crow family" you're referring to the taxonomic grouping of Corvidae, which includes things from nutcrackers to blue jays to ravens. So your reasoning for calling a jackdaw a crow is because random people "call the black ones crows?" Let's get grackles and blackbirds in there, then, too. Also, calling someone a human or an ape? It's not one or the other, that's not how taxonomy works. They're both. A jackdaw is a jackdaw and a member of the crow family. But that's not what you said. You said a jackdaw is a crow, which is not true unless you're okay with calling all members of the crow family crows, which means you'd call blue jays, ravens, and other birds crows, too. Which you said you don't. It's okay to just admit you're wrong, you know?

Literally this, except the bullet holes are the various cueing strategies poor readers learn and the unshot areas are the phonics that poor readers don't learn.
The classic demonstration of “survivorship bias”, showing the locations of bullet holes in WW2 bombers returning from missions. The naïve, survivorship-bias-prone response to this would be to reinforce the areas with red dots; however, the reality is that the areas with red dots are where reinforcement is *not* necessary, because the plane can obviously survive being shot in those places. Instead, it's the areas *without* bullet holes that need reinforced, because the planes shot there are the ones that don't make it home.

Best part of living in Reno: dozens of AYCE sushi joints, all with pretty good (or better) quality, and nearly all of 'em cost less than $40/person even with tip. And this one even throws in free sake (cheap sake, sure, but still sake).
