Kevin drum was one of the first people I read routinely as the internet took and blogs took off — an era that had optimism for the net — had no idea about this — rip
3/ Though he worked remotely and never met a lot of the staff, Kevin always refused to take a raise, asking that we spend the money on junior staffers. Something he didn't want made public then, but an important thing to share.

Watching the discussion on Deepseek from open-source tech people -- as an academic in medicine is depressing. Hope for an open future for AGI. Once, Banting gave away insulin for humanity. Salk refused to patent the polio vaccine. What do we live in?

Some thoughts about what I am looking forward this year from my vantage point of computational molecular biology. One mega-trend for me; we will definitely see more AI methods of all sorts emerge.

Inspired by the other amazing starter packs - here's one for cancer researchers!

I tried to make this broad - from immunology to genomics to cell biology and so much more..

This list also includes organizations & institutes supporting cancer researchers 🧪🔬⚕️🩺

Hope its useful!

We need to have a ‘code of conduct’ for reviewing manuscripts, like (1) if you say that something is not novel then provide the reference. (2) If you propose an experiment, state precisely to which claim it is crucial. (3) If you want to say something nasty then sign your name.

you know you're getting old when you watch a cartoon in the morning and a movie in the evening with your 6-year-old, and they both cover the same song you grew up with. Creep on the Hollow & guardians of the Galaxy 3. 😂

Made a new feed for immunology content called ImmunoSky: bsky.app/profile/did:...

It will pick up any posts tagged with ⑂ (best I could do for antibodies), #immunosky, or immunology jargon hash tags like #lymphocyte, #cd8, #mhc, &c
