for alito especially, racism is fake, anti-LGBT bigotry is fake, and the only real discrimination is against conservative christians who can't make public school curriculum by decree
WHY IS THE COURT NOT CONCERNED ABOUT DISCRIMINATION AGAINST KIDS WITH TWO SAME SEX PARENTS?

@morecivilized.bsky.social - the order given out to evacuate all imperial troops is listed as a “brand new” order - I think it’s clearly meant as a nod to the incoming Death Star so even though it’s a little extreme it worked for me

i may be unserious, hysterical and woke, but my strategy of “taking trump seriously no matter how insane he sounds” has paid more analytical dividends than the alternatives
Think part of the problem with describing Trump seriously is that no one actually seems to actually ever take his entire ideological outlook seriously, so absurdist means tend be be more effective at evoking political affect

Everyone wants there to be a grand scheme behind all of this but the terrible truth is that extremely stupid people are in charge and they have a fanatical devotion to wrong, childlike concepts of society and economics cooked up by right wing radio hosts in order to sell tainted dietary supplements

It's striking the extent to which there's never any justification given for any of this beyond "it's too many people" or "it's actually fake" and no apparent planning behind any of it. It's the aesthetics of "move fast and break things" without any discernible direction or purpose. It's cosplay.
CDC source:

“We just had word that all our fellows and post doc staff are laid off effective immediately. The famous Epidemic Intelligence Service, aka the Disease Detectives, is no more. That’s 1260 staff.

They are calling this ‘Phase 1’.”

I think the hotfixes broke a lot of something inside civ vii cuz holy shit is stuff disappearing, or I’m being different legacy perks that don’t … give me what they said they would

Folks are shocked that their institutions, after professing commitments to climate justice and DEI, are now caving to Trump and scrubbing all references.

It's brutal.

And it's the smallest taste of what our students felt when their universities called in the cops b/c they protested a genocide.

What’s wild about civ vii is I can see the old world, gladious, aow, and humankind mechanics all wound up in it.

Civ vii - you should lose a number of your settlements between ages! Maybe legacy points should be used to get the perks *or* keep a settlement - or something. Idk. Maybe that’ll be a game mode like apocalypses in vi.

The fall of lead might have helped among the fall in violent crime. I think the rise of plastic in the brain probably has some effect on the present. Weird to be alive for a very brief window of time between the two.

one thing about the "where are the protests tho", coming from the "there are, you just haven't seen them" that i think doesn't get covered much is that there has been, over the decades, a shift in news *intentionally* not covering protests, movements. smothering with silence.

It’s cause most of these places is a glorified real-estate fund at this point and they basically hate that they have to do the actual education or research parts
I don't know...maybe more people should have spoken up when Universities called the police to beat up anti-genocide protesters and then expelled students and teachers who participated, instead of acting all surprised now that they're complying with fascist orders. 🤷🏻‍♀️

it’s wild that elon musk spent the entire campaig cycle calling kamala harris a puppet when he has essentially relegated trump to be just that. elon musk has his hand way up trumps ass it’s crazy anyone in media are pretending this is normal at any level

it’s very fun to watch rightwingers make up insane bullshit and laugh at them for “believing” it but it’s a very intentional strategy to flood the online ecosystem with their narratives. they don’t believe all the shit they say but it serves their ends if everyone is talking about them all the time
