This is the one that gives me pause most. Like you still see PSY as 'South Korean rapper' sometimes and yeah it works but that was a one-hit wonder like 15 years ago. People know the song but the guy's name?

skibidi would be a good anagrind, imo - just need to find a good def for TS Eliot

I think I retired both my SA and my IT about twenty-five years ago! 🤣

Yeah. It's a tricky balance - I do think it's reasonable to expect newer solvers to learn *some* commonly used things, like you'd learn the ropes in many new hobbies. I don't think banning stuff is the way, just trying to be creative and find more new stuff that's usable. Even if not in the BRB !

As long as a clue is fairly done, solvers should be able to have a decent stab at the solution, whether it's very up-to-date or terribly old.
Many solvers (myself included) appreciate the chance to learn a new word or phrase this way - though of course some hate it!.

...but for me the issue isn't so much having modern stuff in the solutions (i.e. having SKIBIDI as a grid entry), but finding new ways to clue single/double letters - so like AB or PI etc etc.

Ah well must be the actor then. Would've been a hell of a coincidence otherwise :)
