The area around Mobile, AL received from 5 to more than 10 inches of rain in the past 24 hours, with the highest amounts south and west of the city. Hats off to our #CoCoRaHS observers for their reports!

This band of snow has been on the ground for two weeks. While the snow cover is getting a little thin, it will hang around for a few more days with the frigid weather. More notable is the lack of snow cover across the remainder of the Midwest and central Plains. A weird winter so far.

Some big changes in the Accumulated Winter Season Severity Index (AWSSI), especially in the southeastern quarter of the country. Not much of a winter yet in the central and northern Plains and upper Midwest. #AWSSI
