On 26.1 there is a separate option for the transparency of glass elements only in settings->display and brightness->Liquid Glass->tinted

The “reduce transparency” accessibility option is much more aggressive than switching the glass style to “tinted”

I only ever TA’d an intro class so.. “grain of salt”, things were clearly “going away” long before they were deprecated (pylab comes to mind) and I tried to steer people away from using that.
