I'm in DSA in part because I believe that the United States' logistical potential for global good makes trying to wrest control of it from those who protect or ignore genocidaires a moral imperative

because tearing it down doesn't save the oppressed, it deprives them of the aid of the most powerful cosmopolitan polity that has ever existed

yes, this country was built on genocide and slavery. but in historical terms something like the united states has never happened before, and the conditions don't really exist for it to happen amywhere else

There’s also the fact that she didn’t have a public profile 3 months ago… because her husband wouldn’t have wanted her to.

There was a minute that I thought we’d look back on Charlie Kirk’s death as the end of our republic.

It’s pretty obvious now that we’ll look back on it as the first salvo in the civil war that brought down MAGA.

Either way, shows what a nothing person he was.

I largely agree with this, and winning in 28 is vital enough that we need to be pouring resources into the swing states that like you say matter more, but we still need to be looking to expand the map beyond 28. In 2032, we won’t be able to win an election with PA/MI/WI/NE2 anymore. We need others.

If Dems ever win TX, especially in a presidential, it’ll also cause massive soul searching with the right and they’ll definitely change their approach to everything. Whether it works will be another story, but I could see Blexas being a one time thing lol

Honestly I think AZ staying purple is less likely than TX becoming purple. For the time being our most likely path will be be through the rust belt and the educated Southeast (NC and GA). In 2040 I think it’s not in likely we’ll consider PA, GA, NC, GA, and WI as safe blue.

Definitely hard to say — I wouldn’t be surprised though if Sliwa had dropped out his voters just stayed home. If they were fine with holding their nose and voting Cuomo they would’ve done so, since Sliwa didn’t have a prayer.

Most of the red states down south are perma red unfortunately. Texas could go purple because of its large Hispanic population and educated urban areas, and GA and NC are going to become blue states I still think, but Florida is gone and we shouldn’t ever try to win there if I’m being honest

And Dems are just smarter so they feel more disenfranchised by the process. You can’t lie to them and say you’re going to fix everything and that all their problems are the fault of people they don’t like, because they are actually smart

I think Cuomo was viewed as a Democrat until he joined as an independent and went full racist. Sliwa doesn’t factor in for me — Zohran still got over 50%.

Agree on geographically specific, though. The vibes of the message can be applied elsewhere, but the candidates can’t all be socialists lol
December 12, 2025 at 3:52 PM
Definitely depends on the approach. The big takeaway from Zohran’s campaign should be that it’s effective to cast yourself as an outsider with a hopeful message. You can’t just broadly lib bash and expect to win, but you can’t also act like libs are doing everything right. It’s a fine line!
December 12, 2025 at 3:34 PM
I mean depending on how far that thermostatic public opinion swings I think Texas could go blue in 26 or 28.

This is of course something I’ve thought before and been wrong about lol

And the biggest. The only other two that come close are probably the IN gerrymander failure and the rejection of the nuclear option during the shutdown, both of which were just Rs being scared to screw themselves.
It’s undeniably the greatest success story of this regime so far. We should learn from it.

This administration’s policies on immigration and Venezuela would become radioactively unpopular if people understood due process, what it protects, and the fact that Trump and his goons are doing everything in their power to not give it to people.
