It's kind of like my HVAC repair tech pretending that mini split heat pumps aren't available in America and they're super unreliable anyway. He's just never had to service one...

Sensitivity of antigen tests is low in the best circumstances. You typically need to retest multiple times to rule something out. For this reason I rather buy tests as cheaply as possible.

In my experience approved tests in the US have high failure rates. I found it cheaper to buy many low quality tests and just try another if the control line fails. I previously bought these tests in Japan for less than $1 each.

United States v. Google LLC (2020) recently found that Google's Android partner system and therefore the Play Integrity API based on it is illegal.

We're in active contact with the EU Commission about the Play Integrity API and are hopeful they're going to do something about it.

Japan never locked down. I rode in packed commuter trains 2020-2021 pre-vax. 100% masks on trains might have slowed spread and limit severity. The country already had many masking during flu season after SARS a decade prior. Masking was not controversial. It made a difference.

Browsers stopped coloring visited links differently in part because it became a way for arbitrary other sites to fingerprint users by the subset of sites they visited before.

One of the problems of Mastodon's federation model is people don't like what other people say and they ban people or entire federations from being visible to their users. That results in a fragmented experience. BlueSky seems to be superior in letting the user choose their own feeds.

The model comes with 7 years of security updates. To extend the life of your battery try to keep the battery between 30-80% State of Charge to avoid stressing it. The upcoming December 2024 firmware update will have an option to stop charging at 80% I would use at all times except flying.
