29$ Mill to sweep? How about NO!

@wilsonforseattle.bsky.social Deny this hasty prerequisite. We need millions to keep people stable, and fed.

Not shove them around town. 👎

Police Spending must focus on violent crime.

Not graffiti, taco stands, sex-workers, and (non-selling) drug users. 👍

We can all agree that @seattletimes.com is just a glorified press-release right?

A mouthpiece for corporate/wealthy interests. 👎

It's why I unsubscribed YEARS ago.
Everyone should do as well!

All options should be on the table.

Reducing options for harm reduction, AND mandating sweeps of unhoused neighbors will do MORE damage to our population. This needs to stop.

Long-form novels, yes.
Few of us have time for that.

But there is tons we read with tech articles, news, heck even tabletop lore/gaming manuals.

We're good, could be better of course.

If out of state rich people are paying this much attention to us. We are doing the right thing!

Affordability is THE issue of our time.
Make the wealthy pay!
Hey @washingtonpost.com? Fuck off and leave us alone. We don't give a shit what your band of sweaty billionaire fluffers thinks about our politics.

Mid-level city employees will always have the best insight of the city. Living and working for the town you are in, you REALLY get a feel for what is working or not. 👍
I've talked to a couple City of Seattle employees now who are beyond relieved with the election results, if only because they'll hopefully get to interact with a more functional executive branch now

Blind faith in algorithms is a feature, not a bug.

"We did an oopsie. Sorry" - Tech/data companies can cast doubt all on their own. And yet we have no way to trace or hold them accountable.

When much of their "data" is just hand-waving.

City/State issues might get wonky to talk about on a national media platform.

It is our responsibility to make affordability THE issue of our time, and enact solutions.

Seattle will prove we can build a better nation for ALL! 🫡

Thank you to CM Rinck for her leadership here.

We will certainly need to partner with County, State and Federal delegation.

In particular, we need State electeds to adopt new progressive revenues, like a statewide Corporate Payroll Tax or a Wealth Tax to make up for these cruel cuts.

“Let me be clear: we are not facing this alone. Seattle, King County, our state and federal delegations, our provider partners, and advocates have shown time and again what strong regional partnership looks like — we have built these programs together, and we will defend them together.”

We need to push state electeds (including Gov.) across the state to go on the record in support of significant new progressive revenues. And anyone who doesn’t support deserves to be challenged.

I’m like a broken record on this issue, but it simply makes no sense to collect sales taxes on new housing construction when we are in an enormous housing shortage and the costs to build are already so high.
