In the new remake of 'Maigret' (mainly UK cast), the lead and his screen wife open some champagne, are prevented from drinking it immediately, and so put a spoon in the neck of the bottle so it stays fizzy and return it to the fridge. I don't believe a French couple would buy into this urban myth.

What you get when you search for "gift wrapping paper" on the Woolworths site for deliveries in my area. There's nothing under "Christmas wrapping paper", either. Also, check out how many of these non-wrapping-paper items are out of stock.

I thank you.

You really don't want to know what I think. 😡

Eventually, finally, albeit one hour and forty-eight minutes too late, it ends.

See, I know my goods have been "dispatched" because you've already told me that in the email with the "Track delivery" link in it. What else does this tell me, other than "your item is in a box somewhere"? The Aussie retailer's app, apparently, does not work in my region. 🙄

Started watching the new 'Maigret' on ThreeNow this afternoon and fell asleep halfway through. So if you're suffering from insomnia...

It's not on cassette, and it's not on Spotify, but it is out now.

Time flies: It's already been a year since this came out.

"...What really sets it apart, tho, is an almost hyperreal 'in the room with you' production sound..."

If you haven't seen this yet and enjoy tense thrillers, this is worth a watch (Netflix NZ). A top-tier cast, led by Claire Danes and Matthew Rhys, and it's nailbiting without causing you palpitations.

Woolworths' Gather survey.

NEVER MIND AI. JUST OFFER MORE PRODUCTS AT A REASONABLE PRICE.

I think this was available in the UK, too. My Dad may have used it. Although Brylcreem was more popular over there.

Here's an example of Google's 'AI overview' conflicting with other available information. I asked who came up with the bassline on Dylan's 'Most Of The Time' because the lick in the chorus is sheer genius. AI says it was played by producer Daniel Lanois. Wikipedia says it was bassist Tony Hall. 🤔

It was reading this book in the mid-1980s that first turned me into what Shane 'Oily' Jones would describe as a "Green banshee", and I've been one ever since.
November 26, 2025 at 8:21 PM
I objected to being indirectly referred to as a "banshee" by Shane Jones until I looked up the definition. I'm now wearing it as a badge of honour.

It was tempting to start this post with the word "So", in the style of... well, pretty much everyone, but I will refrain.

I've gone and ordered a chair for my studio.

I can do better than that. Here's a film that *is* a turkey.
