I'm not even wholly opposed to this on principle, if they only collected DOB through a known & trusted system (say the govt provided portal or itsme) and then immediately deleted the data after recording a Y/N value I'd actually be fine with it. I'd grumble a little but I'd get over it.

I would think you'd do it via a social graph so you don't have to process text but maybe they're a bit mad and were willing to throw a bunch of compute and a language model at it
