In my experience middle management and higher (especially in the legal and healthcare industries) are the sole reason fax machines still exist. Everyone else either hates faxes or just doesn't care what the process is, but the people with the power to force change don't want to learn anything new.

Protest votes only work when the lesser of two evils is certain to win. When it's actually a close race they're just self-defeating.

As long as the US remains a first-past-the-post system we're stuck with this. Yes it sucks, maybe if we're lucky RCV or something similar catches on.

In the context of a US Presidential election where one of two people will become President for four years, and one of those people is literally the cult king of a far-right attempt to take over the country, then yes you absolutely vote for the disappointing center-right Democrat.

My understanding was that NDs implied lack of intent to fire, where reckless is "intent to fire but no intent to do whatever happened next"

Isn't that a subset of intentional?

Computers and paper interacting is unnatural! Only EVIL can be found where they mix. And if you are in the darkest of places, sometimes they join forces with analog telephones to create the UNHOLY TRINITY that is fax. Those who interact with the fax for too long can not be saved...

TIL both this and that they at one point lived in Bay Village. I continue to be amazed about how many artists and performers that defined my youth have ties to Ohio.

read the actual bill text and this is quite literally a provision designed solely to impede civil and criminal investigations into United States Senators and their staff. www.appropriations.senate.gov/imo/media/do...

That would be absolutely beastly, especially if as suggested it were possible to use ethernet.

Any business network (or home network being operated like a business network by a nerdy user) should have the dumbest, least routery modem/ONT their internet service supports in the bridgiest mode it offers hooked up to a third-party router from a vendor that offers long-term support.

The venn diagram of "situations where you need an IPv4 network larger than /24" and "situations where it is appropriate to be using an ISP-provided router of any kind" is two circles traveling away from each other at the speed of light.

ISP routers are always garbage.

Same here in NE Ohio, hoodie comes out when temps go below 50, jeans when things get frosty, the heavy shit only makes an appearance when the wind chill is tickling 0. I keep a heavy coat and gloves in the back of my car in case of emergency, but it's never been even close to necessary.
