While I definitely find backend dev more challenging/interesting I've always loved frontend.
Wish devs would just try building with raw materials of HTML and CSS while reserving javascript for progressive enhancement.
The compilation tools these days are way overwrought and mostly unnecessary.

i also found it easier to build my sites using monospace, just because I can't do design, see picostitch.com, picossg.dev, jskatas.org I am glad I did

I'm currently using 11ty to build a 400+ page site, then adding a couple of 1-2K web components here and there to enhance the functionality. The actual 400+ page build takes, like, less than a second. Would probably take longer to build *one* page clientside, in a SPA.
