This comes up in movement histories over and over again! Despair is your enemy’s friend! Good organizers know this!!
i have been reading Tom Ricks’ “Fighting the Good War” which is a military analysis of the civil rights movement, and one thing that comes abundantly across is that movement leaders and ordinary people made it a practice to refuse to fall into despair and cynicism.

“ICE is doing what ICE is designed to do” played over video of ICE engaging in acts of violence should be the wall to wall DNC media strategy right now
Mike Johnson comes out against additional guardrails on ICE as Democrats call for it.

“I think there's a lot of Democrats playing games right now with national security and with law enforcement. And I think it's dangerous. Ice is doing what ice is designed to do by its very name.”

Great example of why I always try to train union stewards to avoid the words "can" and "cannot" when describing an employer's powers.
The First Amendment protects the public’s right to:

1. Film ICE in public

2. Photograph ICE in public

3. Observe what ICE does in public

ICE and DHS officials cannot lay a finger on any American who is peacefully exercising First Amendment rights.

How we support a localized/ state-wide General Strike to succeed, is an important muscle building exercise for a larger General Strike.

Part of what's great about Eric Foner's scholarship on this, for our purposes, is that it's about responding to kidnappings in an urban environment!
We are dealing with an institution modeled on slave catching and the great news is that we also have resistance models

This is a great book about the Underground Railroad in an urban environment, New York City:
