In fact, at 1856 UTC it first exhibited a Shortwave Infrared brightness temperature of 137.88ºC -- which is the saturation temperature of the #GOES18/#GOESWest ABI Band 7 detectors.

The summit of #Kilauea exhibited a very robust thermal signature in #GOES18/#GOESWest Shortwave Infrared imagery -- which was briefly masked by the dense volcanic cloud.
