North Essex. Retired. Not posh.
Natural worrier, dislike of all things Tory and their ilk.

Serious Moonlight.
Not Dry February. Day 1.

Admittedly a bit nervous about having a drink. But it's worked today. Probably one too many whisky at home.

Back on the wagon tomorrow.

Crikey, Peroni is £7.10 a pint in my local. Not sure if that is good or bad. But I know my Guinness is just about to go north of £6.

Dry January. The End. ✅

But also a beginning.

Busy day tomorrow, but at some stage I will stop, have a couple at the pub and later on at home, one of the many beers left over from Xmas and a large whisky in a lovely glass.

Good thread
Yes, whatever happened to my fantasy Brexit where the all powerful UK simply swept away the superpowers, the global companies, anyone else's rules, geography, history, domestic politics, demographics, deindustrialisation, Trump, and things I don't like?

Oh yes, reality. And bad Brexiter governments

Last day of dry January (modified) and it's been good.

I've felt better. Much better sleep. Spent less - it's not just me in the house. Not lost any weight.

Today should be straightforward as it is a busy day.

What is rarely acknowledged is that these people are just fundamentally dull human beings.

Obsessed with money, status and fashion but utterly devoid of charm or intellect or even a sense of humour.

Dry January. Day 30. ✅

Despite being retired, Friday's are tough. It still feels like the gateway to the weekend.
Could so easily have swung by my local at the end of the afternoon dog walk, but I just went straight home.

Maybe it is an age thing, but I won't have supermarket or takeaway food delivered.

Dry January. Day 29. ✅

The end is looming and falls on Sunday. There are quite a few reflections and the absolute number 1 is that I feel much better when I don't have a drink.
I don't think at this stage I can go teetotal.

Then there’s this wee gobshite

The whole administration is a sewer of illegality and hatred wrapped in incoherent stupidity and so real sign that it will stop.

I shall NEVER understand why a single Democrat voted in favour of appointing any of them

Note today was under modified rules. Nice Sunday lunch in the pub with my sister and brother in law.

Two pints with dinner. Good to see the pub busy.

Dry January. Day 24. Fail.

Nice few pints of Guinness in our local waiting for our Chinese takeaway. And then at home I couldn't resist a large whisky or two watching the very good "The Critic".

Tomorrow Sunday lunch with my sister at local + 2.

It's too early. This needs to be kept up our sleeves to use closer to the time. It needs to be done when there is no time for retaliation and the World Cup fails.

A tougher one than I thought it was going to be.

Tomorrow the day is already panning out. Weather looks good. It looks as if the modification rules will apply as we wait in our local pub for our Chinese takeaway to be prepared.

Where are the poppy patriots? Why are they completely silent on this grotesque insult to our armed forces and specifically the 2,000 UK service and civilian personnel who were injured and the 457 who died in Afghanistan?
imagine being the father or mother or son or daughter or sibling of one of those brave British troops who died in Afghanistan, and having to listen to this crass ignorance
