A bit about me: I try to #bike to work more days than most, if schedule allows. For groceries when I can. And for exercise on weekends. I’m two years into it.

This year, I’ve decided to capture photos from my trips. You see so much more on a bike.

In her old age, she walked you.
Make no mistake about it.
In those walks, she made you appreciate
bird song before sunrise
the breeze & everything it carried
the simple beauty in moving slow before the world is awake.
She brought so much joy & has left it with us
like all angels do.

Rainy afternoon and evenings call for homemade #pasta and #bruschetta!

Made some hand cut #ravioli (paired with a brown butter and sage sauce); bruschetta; a radicchio, arugula, pear and mozzarella salad; and some fettuccini noodles with the leftover pasta dough. Jozy was impressed.

Spent the last week for work in #WashingtonDC and couldn’t get time in on a bike there, so I had to hit any stationary bike options I could find to keep up my weekly routines.

(This #bike is found in the Smithsonian’s Object Project, “Everyday things that changed everything”)

Treeline in local park that I find myself biking to this year on the weekends. Photo is from yesterday’s trip.

Routine grocery stop on the way back from a brief workout. Blueberries, milk, lettuce, bell peppers, pears, bananas, parsley, basil, celery, & steak. 8 miles round trip, 42 degrees (which is cold for us in Louisiana!), and still room in the pannier!

Jozy, the best #RescueDog in the world, exploring the new pavers we just got put into our backyard this past week. She’s 17 1/2 years old, had a great visit with the vet this past week, and she’s excited about the upgrade!

Nickname for her at the vet’s office: The Legend.

Taking a break from #PhotosWhileBiking to share this amazing #documentary I watched this week, Roots of Fire. It captures so much of the uniqueness of Lafayette & Acadiana, my home. If you love #culture, roots #music, #MardiGras, #Cajun and #Creole lore, this is for you.

It’s flat & close to sea level here. This might explain why when we built a 100 acre #park, we included a big hill, the highest point in Lafayette at 60ft above sea level.

Look closely and you can see a lone #runner using it for exercise tonight.

I don’t know who Muckrock is…or why he is eating a #FootBall but this piece of #barn or shed art is always cool to see on the way home from work. #WhoDat

Love seeing the #LiveOak trees in Moncus Park at night. We are lucky to have so many of these #trees in our city. You can expect to see a lot of these in my photos from my rides this year…

Had to take a small detour in my #commute to the office today and made some new friends. These #cows were in town for the #rodeo this past weekend and were getting ready to head home this morning.

Met these two #DogsOfBlueSky today on one of my weekend #bike trips to my favorite record store to pick up a new record to spin. Meet Desmond & Frida from Lagniappe Records in Downtown Lafayette. Too cute.

#StreetArt #mural in downtown Lafayette.

“Allons dancer!”, or “Let’s dance!” is a tribute to how much #Cajun French and #zydeco music is a part of our local #culture here. The background of the mural is the coloring and pattern of the Acadiana flag.

A symbol of resilience and beauty in some cultures. The whispers made by muhly grass have been thought by Native Americans to carry messages from #nature that guide decisions and journeys. (1/2/25)

Photo from the inside of the barns behind the Blackham Coliseum in Lafayette, Louisiana, built in 1949. Never knew this until I looked it up but in the 60s, it hosted acts like The Supremes & James Brown. The coliseum did. Not the barn. (1/1/25)
