It still has that slightly solventy, gluey thing that often turns me off grain whisky, but a long time in cask has tempered it somewhat and it’s got a decent amount of flavour with chocolate, caramel, coffee, blackcurrant jam, coconut and vanilla.

I realise I am in minority as everybody seems to have loved this, but it wasn’t my favourite Glen Scotia. However, the bottle is empty now so it’s certainly not a bad drop!

Really enjoyed this one. I will continue to hope Signatory can give us more ex-bourbon cask whiskies in the 100 proof series.

Found a sample of the refill ex-bourbon 10 year old. Both have similarities, but the 8 year old from first-fill casks dials up the fruit and just edges it in my opinion. Both excellent.
