I live in Colorado, have mad fits of creativity followed by periods of somnolence, and am charmed by snakes. She/her, or whatever.

Last I heard was about the jeans thing, and when I looked into her a little more I saw that she was still/recently registered Republican? Had thought she was apolitical but that tipped me to ohhhh, it's probably deliberate. Haven't seen any discourse about her since then, which is fine by me.

i am Way Too Online here and my reaction to that post was ohhhh, right, that jeans thingie, we did talk about that a bit back in the pleistocene

so much lazy "satire" relies on the purveyor not understanding something and spreading that ignorance to an equally ignorant audience

Right. I guess depending on your district and whether your schedule allows you to participate in caucuses, the calculation in CO could be different — if you're in a district where the R primary matters more and you can't caucus, independent might be a better way to go.

Yeah. Neguse is not aligned with me on Israel, but otherwise is really solid.

One of the things I find hopeful is that he clearly knows that, and also that his supporters will be very demanding. It's a real challenge he's set himself and I am wishing him every success.

Every time they do shit like this it seems like the quislings are either retiring or not up for reelection for many years. Stinks of horse-trading so more vulnerable members can keep their hands clean.

they were the *reasons* helen was hard to live with, it certainly wasn’t her fault

idk short form text is a bad way to be thinking this through but it feels like there’s something in the distinction that’s valuable for understanding this moment, where women get more power but have to pay a very degrading price for it
November 9, 2025 at 8:21 PM
i want to read more about this distinction because the number of women ending up as a public face (literally so, because of the plastic surgery) is notable, even though the misogynistic structure seems even more entrenched. like, under old-timey sexism men gatekept power but could still like women.

i’m really kicking myself for not saving that post drawing a distinction between sexism and misogyny, because i keep thinking about it. feels like the right is virulently misogynistic but less sexist than before, because it bestows power on women who perform “correctly” within misogynistic hierarchy
