Agree, shape looks good, but I have only ever seen one, so not much experience to go on!

Not sure there are any BHG darvic schemes with Z as the first character. Could this have been a 2 as for the other two rings? Four digit codes starting with 2 are all UK schemes for BHGs.

Cheers. Didn't recognise the common name, thought it was Hemlock Moth?

Slim chance of two micros for me, as far as I can see. Perhaps more chance of one of four macros 🤔

There were also 87 on 20/12/22, so still a record by a fair margin 👍

Is that A.alstromeriana?

113 Cormorant!! That's got to be a reserve record count, and by some margin I'd imagine 👍

Have a look at this scheme. I think it fits what your pic. shows.

That still gives you plenty of scope for new ones... hopefully.

There is that 😂 Only missing about 1,000 from the county list, but how many of those 1k are likely in my garden is another matter 🤔

That's more than my new macros/micros combined for my garden thus year! I have seen none of the 'featured' nine, although I did have Y.alpella, which is 'close' 😉

Seasonally, what is flying changes considerably. You can trap year-round, although with far greater success in the warmer months (UK perspective). If you want to trap you can buy purpose-built traps, basically a box with a light to attract the moths. Some just note what is attracted to house lights.

To see what's present through the seasons. Species noted & numbers of each are generally forwarded to the County Moth Recorder at the end of the year for addition to each county's on going moth data.

I've been trapping since 2019 (part year) in suburban n.e. Worcs. I never intended to do much with micros at first, but found some colourful ones in my first few traps (June/July '19), so I've counted both for pretty much all the time I've trapped. Currently 462 overall (208 mic/254 mac).
