i think the hello kitty friends lego sets are sweet, but because there’s not a currently airing sanrio cartoon in my personal sphere of awareness i like to imagine up a hypothetical child who thinks kuromi is just a random character from their legos that everyone liked enough to make stationary of.

a sunbeam hit ari’s blue butter dish perfectly this morning and it lit up electric to cast weird LED-style shadows on the fridge. 10/10 morning moment, big recommend.

felt too sorry for our little pumbo to truly ditch him once he was past his prime, so i’ve made him a secret retirement home in the bushes by the curb where he can watch the dog walkers go by.

friday night we went to a screening of the lighthouse that included greyscale audience engagement toys - baked bean slime, a whoopie cushion, a little LED lantern, and instructions for making an origami sea bird (instructions unclear - we made little grey cranes from memory instead)

ari has such an eye for detail and a knack for making a night feel really special. 🥺 they arranged the flowers, picked out cheese pairings (we got moon drop grapes!) and set the table with the cantilevered serving tray we found at the vintage shop last fall.

cue: butter candle day, the feast day of the butter candle. waited for a foggy and damp evening forecast, prepared the butter candle (beeswax wick, butter, rosemary, a paper cup for a mold and about an hour in the freezer) and took it out to our little enclosed porch to enjoy with a big crusty loaf.
