Traffic jams meant I missed the #Starlings this evening in #Aberystwyth. Chattering away while I waited for my chips though! Looking forward to catching up with folks at the @birdsinwales.bsky.social conference tomorrow!

Lovely to finally make an effort to ring the local House Sparrow population in our garden. 19 of the 30+ flock now have some bling! Whether we ever catch them again remains to be seen! 😜 All ringing under licence and supervised by @hughhanmer.bsky.social #SuffolkBirds

Baby #Hedgehog found out in the open at lunchtime today. Taken to local rescue as far too small to be out and about, and a dead sibling also found 😥. Then, girls just found another bigger one! Max count 1 for @bto-gbw.bsky.social this week, but that's 4 (as we had a big one a few days ago too!)

Baby #Hedgehog found out in the open at lunchtime today. Taken to local rescue as far too small to be out and about, and a dead sibling also found 😥. Then, girls just found another bigger one! Max count 1 for @bto-gbw.bsky.social this week, but that's 4 (as we had a big one a few days ago too!)
The calm after the storm last night! No #Hedgehogs before bed, but a woof at 4.30am this morning led to one being found (must have tripped the light!) I think that brings us up to 3 recently... Big Bertha, baby and a smaller adult. #GardenWildlife @bto-gbw.bsky.social

Working at home yesterday was interrupted when I heard this outside the office window. Ran downstairs to get cracking views of our local #PeregrineFalcons displaying right over the garden! Won't be adding to my @bto-gbw.bsky.social list, but a great addition for #SuffolkBirds.

Nice to finally ring some #BarnOwls this evening with @hughhanmer.bsky.social after a very slow start to the season in Suffolk. 2 broods of 3 healthy chicks ringed, and a female caught on 5 little uns, so return visit planned in a few weeks time. All birds ringed under @btobirds.bsky.social licence.

Nice to finally ring some #BarnOwls this evening with @hughhanmer.bsky.social after a very slow start to the season in Suffolk. 2 broods of 3 healthy chicks ringed, and a female caught on 5 little uns, so return visit planned in a few weeks time. All birds ringed under @btobirds.bsky.social licence.
Not much colour in our Suffolk garden at the moment, but the hollyhocks are growing well!

Returning a young Reed Warbler to the reedbed after ringing this morning. Not quite fully grown but able to get about in the reeds ok. Caught under licence. #BirdRinging #NorfolkBirds @btobirds.bsky.social @hughhanmer.bsky.social

Working from home is confusing for dogs and #GardenBirds! Wish chose to sensibly snooze in a patch of shade outside, whilst this young House Sparrow got a bit of a surprise when it spotted me less than 1m away! Plenty of #Pollinators about too, but most too busy/ quick for an id!

Do #Bumblebees eat aphids? Watched two this evening sticking their heads into the curled leaves of an apple tree where aphids are hiding/ being farmed by ants... Or were they collecting honeydew? @bumblebeetrust.bsky.social
