Wondering if you can get a Centrelink payment now you've finished Year 12?
It will depend on a whole range of circumstances. You can use Centrelink’s Payment and Service Finder to get an idea. You’ll need to organise a Tax File Number and a myGov account too. Make a claim and Centrelink will decide

Today was the final Aboriginal Tenancy Listing Day at NCAT for 2025. We often see Centrelink issues cause real problems for tenants. By working closely with tenant advocates, we’ve helped tenants who were at risk of losing their homes. We'll be back next year supporting First Nations people.

Everyone has the right to live with dignity — yet in Australia, many people who rely on social security are being pushed into poverty by payment rates that are simply too low.
On Human Rights Day, we’re calling for change: Increase social security payments so no one is forced to live in poverty.

Yes, you can appeal a Centrelink debt caused by financial abuse.
Centrelink recognises economic (financial) abuse, in their definition of domestic and family abuse. Appeals can be stressful. You have to provide evidence.
Not all Centrelink debts should be appealed, there can be risks. Get advice.
