There is something very pleasing about arranging 6502 math code in such a way that most CLC/SEC instructions become unnecessary because the value of the carry flag is known in every possible execution path. It is also an excellent way to shoot yourself in the foot! 🤣

I made #Claude and #Gemini write Tetris in 6502 assembly for a Commodore 64.

One worked. One produced a black screen.

Turns out a missing 3-byte instruction (CLC) breaks everything on 1982 hardware.

(I tend to do the latter nowadays, just as a reminder of what the state is supposed to be. Scars on my foot tell of rearranging code with implicit state or unconditional branching.)
