This is a phenomenal example of how people advocating for the "character of the neighborhood" are often actually advocating to *change* the character to be less dense and more suburban. Which, if you go play with the city's n'hood GIS explorer, is what has happened all over Boston!

How to say you've only been in the tourist neighborhoods in Boston without saying you've only visited the tourist neighborhoods in Boston
I travel to Boston several times per year, and it remains the only city I’ve visited where people walk around in articles of clothing with the name of the city they’re currently in. Not a college, not a sports team. Just the concept of Boston.

Twitter accounts are based in Russia. BlueSky accounts are based in homes with, frankly, too many books, plants, obsolete cables, and pieces of rustic pottery, that could do with a bit of a tidying up, to be honest.

No mystery why politicians of the Frank Baker variety oppose sensible zoning reform - broken zoning means anything that gets built requires lobbying, variances, repayable favors. The city councilor seat is not quite as appealing to people like Frank if it is not up to them what gets built.

Feeling grateful that my fellow Boston voters did not send Frank Baker back to the city council, with his bizarre logic that by-right zoning is somehow government interference (what? 🤦‍♂️) while he also basically campaigned on defacto Councilor prerogative over development.
