More news ("news", but I can't remember who I've told about this already): I'm fostering another cat who would hang out near the dumpsters at my workplace and who I've taken in after the first heavy snowfall. Name's Bijou (Жучка, Жужа, Жужуцу Кайсен) and she doesn't get along with my cats at aaaaall

Can't go to a museum without taking a picture of yourself and an artwork to just caption "me"
Me taking a selfie in a mirror engraved with birch trees Silvery metal sculpture of a babushka with an empty space where her face should be under her headscarf. Her clothes are elaborately etched. She's holding two clutches, her legs are hooves, and in her midsection there's a row of porcelain-looking heads/faces spinning. I feel a very deep connection with this sculpture and it took a lot to not just write "me" in here, because, well, I'm. I'm just exhausted these days and no longer feel like a person. I feel very old and very dysfunctional and just falling apart at the seams. Just a little insight for you if you read alt text/if you need the idea of why I think the creepy sculpture is relatable. I also saw an exhibition of Ivan Pokidyshev, an artist from St. Petersburg. I saw these paintings many times online, scattered all over Pinterest, but didn't realize they were oil and not digital. Also really beautiful to see in a proper setting

These are more traditional looking tigers but again I really like this photo for showing the texture of the work and the application of the ink. I managed to carve out some time to go to (what's widely considered) one of the worst museums in Russia, but my time there was actually very nice. I went to see the showcase of Ji Minsun's work and it was really lovely. She's a contemporary minhwa artist and her artwork is stunning up close

I like this one because yiu can realy see the texture of the paper and the paint/pigment application. Its body is composed of several bowls/pialas, with the tiger's fur pattern stretching over them. The tiger is white with blue eyes. It's painted on a light sea foam blue background and there's heart-shaped leaves surrounding the tiger, which are covered in gold leaf and reflecting tye light because the photo is taken at an angle. It's very cute

This made me very emotional. As funny as the situation appears at first glance ("Richard Siken vs. the 911 fandom", objectively funny), it's a shame that a lot of young fans don't appreciate the grace and earnestness with which he explains his meaning and approaches those interactions or do likewise
A tweet by Richard Siken saying: "There are people who fought for your right to exist. And many died for it. We wrote some books to give you history and arm you with skills. I am old and I am safe. By the time you really need me, I'll be dead. Use the work for your fandoms but know where it came from." (This is in the context of his ongoing discussions with fans about fandoms taking his autobiographical work out of context and relating it to things he feels it hs no overlap with)
