Happy to be here
There exists the possibility that Frank doubles down and tries again.

Great job Devin, nailed it. That 1999 picture of Colleen and Luke is devastating.

I think ultimately hindsight will determine that. If you're experimenting without learning anything, and applying the knowledge, then it's not really experimenting at all.

I like experimentation, but when you do it every single game it has it's drawbacks.

He’s been nothing short of phenomenal. I don’t think he’s had a bad game in the shirt.

Because the sample size is too small and theres little time to prepare between games. I said he needed to make time for errors, if he plays like this against Arse in the back half of the season then I’d be more concerned.

This is a great point that largely goes undiscussed. We were just giving games away last year like it was a habit.

Unfortunately, Ange did the double over Frank last year by doing the same thing. We only showed glimmers of hope this game when they went 3 up and sat back for a spell, before making changes to re-energize things. #coys

What midfield? We play a 9-0-1 in possession.

Second road death in less than a week, Mississauga's Vision Zero efforts have been a disaster.

I read this and thought you were short-changing Mississauga and bet if I checked the news there'd be another driver running over a pedestrian, and I was wrong, it was two.

Both of those have been resolved. Our midfield solidity within 6 or 7 games and the gap issue fixed more recently. I'm sure it won't be perfect forever but it does show Frank is aware of issues and is willing and capable of fixing them. He also showed he's willing to take chances and experiment.

It may take Frank a season to get the squad set up to where he wants it to be. I'm confident he'll get there. Two problems stood out in our first ten games: teams were easily playing through our midfield and there was a giant gap between offense and defense on the wing. #coys

When I think of rest defence, I think of Palace. They are rarely caught out of position and seemingly always have a player near the ball to stifle counters independent of a high press. It took Glasner half a season to get going, and he didn't have to deal with a lot of what Frank has to. #coys

One, he's constantly rotating the squad. Two, he's dealing with midweek games. Three, he's dealing with injuries and having to manage minutes. Four, he's dealing with lots of players on international duty. This all means he doesn't have a lot of practice time to instill very specific instructions.

It's also so shape-focused that any adjustments you want to make you have to do so with the entire shape in mind. This is why it's taking a while to get our attack in order. Frank is starting from the back and working his way forward. And he's doing it in the most difficult way. #coys

A good rest defense ensures our shape is strong when we lose the ball and we're hard to break through. Even in our worst game, vs Chelsea, we were hard to break through until we had to stretch our lines to win the game. The issue with rest defense is that it takes a lot of time to establish. #coys

The importance of rest defence is: PL teams have gotten very good at counter-attacks. This is primarily in response to the dominant winning style in the league as perpetuated by Pep. This has been especially evident during our last season where we focused on possession and got smashed on counters.

Where he can improve us is on the counter and our build up shape, which he's working on. But the actual backline? What's he to do, add another defender? Where he has improve us, defensively, is rest defence. #coys
