Con-artists going after authors
Con-artists are wonderful at research and ego manipulation. I recently received this email to an email address associated with my day job, that of an information security professional. What is very…

Of all the scammy, weird things the Josh Kraft campaign has done this feels uniquely bad and actually illegal.

The FTC requires that sponsored posts be labeled #ad or #sponsored. For months, Kraft paid Boston influencers thousands of dollars for Instagram posts with no disclosure. #mapoli #bospoli

Once again the presentation from Wendy Hou at Security BSides Las Vegas was worth coming to Las Vegas for. Anything else this week was bonus!

Once this is released, watch the recording.

Any member of Society of Information Risk Analysts (SiRA) should be very interested.

The people at Microsoft sometimes have no clue about security. This is one of those: arstechnica.com/security/202...
Windows RDP lets you log in using revoked passwords. Microsoft is OK with that.
Researchers say the behavior amounts to a persistent backdoor.

Love how Ron Gula is reminding us that for the most part what we do is successful. Too many CISOs are preaching "They sky is falling" and will fall if you don't do X, Y, and Z. And we wonder why business leaders don't listen. 1/2

Loving that Unicon is happening on National Unicorn Day. Sometimes my day job and my secret identity as an author collide in delightfully silly ways.

This is not about politics.

I am at an event listening to an FBI agent talk about China as a threat, and am thinking how China, Japan, and Korea are now cooperating due to the new tarifs. 1/4

The last two days I attended SecureWorld Boston. I found the following people the most worth listening to, with the freshest ideas:

Keavy Murphy
Kayla Williams
Edna Conway

Notice something? Yes, they're all women.

Our profession is very male dominated

Interesting interaction, may be one of the many job search scams out there.

I got an email from a "recruiter" who shall remain nameless incase this is actually legit. She had a confidential job, and wanted my resume, which I provided. 1/2

Today, visiting my mother, I was reminded that I am not a weeble, but also not humpty dumpty. I later enacted my revenge on the ice. Felt so metaphorically topical somehow.

Recently I was thanked for attending an event I didn't attend, and asked to engage in a sales conversation about the product featured in the discussion.
As is my habit, I blocked the person who reached out.
Today, I happened to notice their account no longer exists.
Fake sales people, what next?
