‘The Road to Roswell’ —Connie Willis
Essential reading for slow heartbreak. Books like this are very precious to me, ones that bring the mundane to the spotlight. It’s hard to not think of it as a memoir. It probably is, in a lot of ways.

Fun, but spatially confusing. This was a premise RIPE for toxic lesbianism but there wasn’t a sniff of it beyond vague undercurrents, and as-is the climax requires way too much suspension of belief for me.

Horror can be tender, especially horror centered on such a literal manifestation of grief. This was very well done.

This was a bit lighter than I was expecting, but still an engaging read thanks to Gregg’s down to earth writing style. Unfortunately, the genAI chapter was a bit lacking, but I would chalk that up more to how recent certain incidents involving LLMs have been.

Tezuka Osamu's lesser known work is always such a treat for its sincerity. This man loved the concept of transformation so much that he worked on a failed series dedicated to it in his off hours.

I had no idea that this was written to be a comedy until I looked up the endorsement quotes after I finished it, which unfortunately says a lot for a concept that could have made for a great horror novel.

I’m so glad I didn’t place bets on my death predictions for this one. Good lord.

Lovely work as always from Wiswell, featuring what is easily my favorite depiction of Hera.

You know how this novella will end early on, but that doesn’t make the sick gut feeling of it coming less chilling to get through.
The audiobook’s narration performance by Christine Hewitt is phenomenal. Cannot recommend enough.

Falls flat in a lot of parts, sad to say. The world feels superficial, which I wouldn’t mind so much for a story like this, but god damn is there a lack of magic in this wizard book. Does not help that the protagonist has every personality trait I hate.

I *loved* this. A murder mystery being solved by an older couple? They’re vampires? One of them has a super over the top goofy Transylvanian accent in the audiobook? It’s peak, I’m afraid.
