It helps that I’m close in age to Rob and Jonathan, and discovered fantasy RPGs at roughly the same age they did. D&D was still in its Wild West era, with lots of homebrew rules, gonzo supplements that read like underground comix, and a deliberately half-designed “Known World” campaign setting.
