Looking forward to digging into this new book! If Korea is the forgotten war, then the protests against it are even more forgotten.

All of the lessons that The Biggest Loser taught—from disordered eating to ruthless self talk—all of that came because we culturally thought it was beneficial & entertaining to abuse fat people. Anti-fat bigotry was the spoonful of sugar that helped the medicine go down. It was a feature, not a bug.

this is the entire trajectory, as the history of ed-tech partnerships reveals.

grifter-welfare at mostly public expense is why faculty, staff, and students need to fight tooth and nail, through collective bargaining language and more, to make such deals subject to the community they must serve

Working on a short piece about civil defense protests in the 1950s. This Catholic Worker flyer (1955) spoke to me.

Every cut that the government makes to social services is effectively a tax on women. Because they're the ones who will be expected to fill in the gaps.
BREAKING: 1 in 4 nursing homes say they will be forced to close if Republicans pass Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill.

No grandma should be kicked out of her nursing home so that Mark Zuckerberg can buy another Hawaiian island.

Blueskis, I am hearing rumors that DOGE is at the NEH building.

- They will fire 50-70% of staff.
- Almost all open grants since 2021 will be closed.
- Almost all NEH Grant programs will be eliminated.

Note: this has not yet been confirmed.

What is confirmed: DOGE CAN GO FUCK THEMSELVES.
