Why is "Sonic Speed" so much f*cking harder?

Oh, I managed to do 2 courses.

That's one line in the span of 30 years.

I never bought the "Cartman is just Archie Bunker for the modern age!" because Archie actually learned throughout the show, and the humor was never "look at the people he hates" it was "look how ignorant this dude is."

The thing about dark comedy or offensive comedy is that it has to be rooted in a place of giving a shit about other people; Parker and Stone give the very strong impression that they don't give a shit about other people, and this is why I don't like South Park. (4/4)

South Park has always been in the "petty dickery" territory even when it is correct about some aspect of the world it observes because Parker and Stone do what a lot of white men do and don't put their jaded cynicism toward trying to do something that makes things better. (3/4)

And yeah, like what Jon says later down that thread, I'm not saying this to be preachy or to say that all creative work has to be inoffensive, but there's a difference between "I have a thing to say even if it's difficult" and "I am going to disguise petty dickery as telling the truth". (2/4)

That feels are too nuanced and self-reflective for them. Even then, if it were, the show doesn't make fun of them, it's a way of saying "parents are stupid for not letting their kids watch it".

"The Boondocks" was pretty great, but it never felt mean spirited the way "South Park" is.

For me, the ONLY time you can get away with the "I make fun of everyone" thing is if you also make fun of yourself.

"South Park" has NEVER done that in 30 years.

Yeah, but that only last so long when you're only type of humor is toilet humor.

No, no, you're right and you should say it. Their humor never evolved or matured in any way.
