Matrix isn't acceptable as a replacement, it is fundamentally not a replacement.
Matrix is for when I need to DM someone some kind of encrypted message, it takes like 5 minutes for it to finish creating a new "Group Chat" (text chat) in a "Space" (discord server equivalent I guess?)

My analogy is weird but maybe you get it, you don't know until you do and you can use what you know to benefit (and maybe enjoy?)

There are things that should be settings, there are features you shouldn't let the end user have the ability to butcher because you're insecure about others "fucking with others"

Some things shouldn't be settings, you create an all or nothing environment when you're too insecure about what can do what that the end user must choose. Creators then don't use the features or constantly have to inform users to enable the settings that the party pooper defaults have off.
