oh waaaaay better in my opinion. it takes everything the cosmic shake tried and amplifies it, adding its own unique ideas to the mix. i hope this team keeps making new 3d spongebob platformers because ToT is not enough, i need more of them with this level of polish

the cosmic shake is a game that has a lot of ambition but also clearly held back by either budget or time constraints. titans has way smaller scope (main story is like 3 hours less, there's also less side-activities) but it makes up for it by being just way better in everything.

titans of the tide inspired me to finish the story of the cosmic shake. and it is good! it is indeed good. but the level of quality between two games is kind of insane, especially in terms of bosses.

this film is going to be like 90% CGI... so don't forget that these "live action" adaptations are still animated movies, they're really just there to exploit non-unionized VFX animator labour, because 3d character animators are unionized and can't be taken advantage of so easily
welp, "live action" how to train your dragon made a lot of money, I'm sure this one will too, it's basically the same thing just more textures and occasionally people up close are visibly real actors

new spongebob game is kind of peak, actually. one of the most polished 3d platforming adventures he had in general and one of the most nice and polished licensed cartoon tie-in games in recent memory

probably the fact that it's not a proper movie adaptation but kind of a vague tie-in with a similar theming (the flying dutchman is an important character here and in the upcoming movie) helped. they could just do whatever they wanted around that theme.

however, here, it's quite obvious that they had a lot more time and money put into this project by comparison to the original movie game. it has a lot more fully animated (in-engine) cutscenes that look absolutely gorgeous, difficulty is balanced, and it doesn't have the need to pad itself out

interesting thing about spongebob titans of the tide is that it is in a way a spiritual successor to the original heavy iron studios movie game. its more linear and story-driven, has tenuous connection to currently new relevant spongebob movie and can get quite challenging
