Godzilla's plan to get bigger than ever! though through unusual methodology.

Commissioned piece for @oregene.bsky.social, of his character in some charizard pajamas.

I can't get over the tiny little die they give you, I bet its small enough for a rat to play games with!
December 10, 2025 at 6:09 AM
... Now assembling the ships however was a real pain though, the materials these are made of is real thick so you really gotta force them into those slots, and it's especially rough when you've got big hands. But they're fun to fiddle with afterwards. And they comes with teeny tiny dice too!
December 10, 2025 at 5:57 AM
... So the pack itself comes with a fair bit of content, pieces for two ships, some game components, and rules and instructions. Not bad for something I got for only four bucks when these things normally seem to go for 10 to 14...
December 10, 2025 at 5:57 AM
So I saw this today at a collection store for real cheap, I've heard of these! It's a sort of miniature game with little ships made from card cutouts. So I decided to grab it just to see what it's all about...
December 10, 2025 at 5:57 AM
... Most of the time when I'm looking through bulk, most of the black cards I see are decaying zombies, bloody vampires, and horror imagery of all kinds. Honestly it's a nice break to see some funny lizards and rats that aren't half dead or plagridden.

I've got my fire monster, maverick; if you'd like to give him a try.

So in Balloonomancy, Cards are broken up into 4 main color divisions defined by it's pool of themes and general strategy. here's a pile of cards from each.

Art is all over the place, some old, most new, nearly all of it temporary. most is by me but @balloogabu.bsky.social has done some blue cards.
November 13, 2025 at 8:01 PM
And I do have to limit myself to 10 minutes on a drawing because otherwise I get way too committal to what is supposed to be temporary art.

While it means I can get stuff made and I don't get too attached to a card if it's not working out. They still look real rough and ugly...
November 12, 2025 at 6:35 PM
I've been making a lot of progress on my card game project. while card art is still crude, temporary, or even absent, I've been making improvements on the rules formatting and layouts.

it's often hard to talk about a card game you are making when there isn't much exciting to show off.
November 12, 2025 at 6:01 PM
So now that I've had it, my verdict is that it's just decent. Not very saucy on its own unless you're willing to put some flour and/or cheese sauce into it to thicken it up some. Otherwise you'll just have a shallow soup.

They're cheap but buldak isn't that much more expensive.
November 12, 2025 at 8:35 AM
And I know this is them trying to get a slice of buldak's marketshare. This stuff is everywhere now! From the Asian markets I frequent to now in every major grocery store!

At 44 cents per, these are some cheap "noods" so I hope they taste good.
November 12, 2025 at 3:07 AM
So these are a new thing in my local supermarket but I can't help but wonder if they really thought the name through.

Just imagine telling somebody to get you some "saucy noods" with a straight face!
November 12, 2025 at 3:07 AM
At least their names are different by one letter, there's apparently 2 totally different falcomon out there, I was confused when I was looking at bulk cards and saw them with no differentiation in their names.
October 30, 2025 at 5:22 PM
Found this card in the bulk boxes of my local card shop. Doesn't seem like a particularly good card but the art looked sick so I just bought it!

I've heard nothing good about Aetherdrift But I really do dig the way this card looks and wonder if there's others in this style.

concept sketches and illustrations for balloons of the blue color group, this specific class is known by the fact they wield plastic prop weapons and training swords to score a hit against players. it skirts the rules of the in-universe dodgeball game but blue does a lot of mildly cheat-y stuff.
October 12, 2025 at 5:22 PM
Along with inflatable magic spells in purple, you have a class of balloons that are inflatable sorcerers themselves. Balloons are all magical by nature but these take it further beyond just being animate.

This image is actually really old, like 2 years old from an earlier draft of the game.
October 12, 2025 at 5:07 PM
Card art of another one of those elemental balloons, in game they are called "SpellBeasts"

This is one that while I can certainly do better on, I'm pretty happy with how it came out, a giant, glowing inflatable thunderbird ready to descend on this hapless player.
October 12, 2025 at 5:02 PM
These are card illustrations for cards in the purple color group, elemental themed inflatables that are styled to be like personifications of magic spells, and are named after popular fantasy magic spells.

The colored ones were older while the two monochrome ones are more recent.
October 12, 2025 at 4:54 PM
More recent sketches of that really big beast balloon. not used in any cards, just been wanting to work on the design.

His name is "Silverfoot" by the way.
October 12, 2025 at 10:01 AM
These two are more recent additions, one actually being in both of the aforementioned balloon groups while the other is just a big balloon in the large beast group of balloons.

As with everything, they are early designs, but they help identify the cards during playtesting.
October 12, 2025 at 9:58 AM
This particular group of balloons have actually been around for a while, these were illustrations made last year when working on a different draft of the card game, all but the last one are still being used as playtesting art.

The last one was for an action card.
October 12, 2025 at 9:53 AM
Some assorted concept sketches, The bats are one division of balloons but another consists of round/pear shaped beast creatures that are the bigger, stronger dodgeballs.

The yeti-like one is the base design with others riffing off that one design, main thing they have in common is body shape.

Another rough illustration done for the card game, fumbled the perspective on it a bit but I'll redo the art eventually.

Basically, this one has the game's equivalent to "Haste" from games like MTG, where it can come at people as soon as it enters play. wanted to represent that on the card image.
