Since Jan 1 2025, which feels like four trillion years ago, research has been shared on here 5 million whole-ass times. Bluesky recently passed 2 billion posts IN TOTAL.

So 0.25% of the entire site's traffic was citations to research.

That is actually massively high. Is it? Yes. Here's why.

Wikipedia is 25 jaar. Gaat de encyclopedie ten onder aan haar eigen succes?
Wikipedia wordt ook gebruikt voor training van taalmodellen. En daar schuurt het. Veel AI-bedrijven ‘scrapen’ de informatie van de pagina’s van Wikipedia, wat zorgt voor zware serverbelasting.

Wikipedia is precies waar idealisten in de beginperiode van internet van droomden. De encyclopedie staat onder druk door AI. Tegelijkertijd is Wikipedia juist door AI harder nodig dan ooit.
