19thnews.org/2023/06/lgbt... A frustrating part about the "all trans women are programmers" stereotype is that it leads to assumptions that we make bank as SWEs. Nah. For every Emily Programmer-Socks making $200K in big tech, there are ten Jane Baristas, Anna Custodians, etc. making far less.
Paid less for being trans, a woman and a trans woman
This LGBTQ+ Equal Pay Day, The 19th focuses on the wage gap for trans women, who make 60 cents for every $1 earned by the average American worker.

eh, I'll give this a try too, why not. Except I'll amend it to "give trans people money in exchange for cool music." Check out my stuff at cosinevi.bandcamp.com. Also check out treecritters.bandcamp.com for my latest release.

Some people see "Abundance" vs. "Leftism" as enemies which...they don't have to be! This division is just amplified by media outlets/algos farming clicks. Many abundance policies mesh just fine with socdem/demsoc politics and indeed help them! Sure there are conflicts, but not as bad as you'd think.

I think at some point we have to stop indulging the fiction that conservatism is a legitimate political tendency and isn't simply a grievance cult for those who value the ability to enact cruelty over their literal basic needs.

The wording of the question has changed, but congestion pricing is now at -2 statewide; +10 in NYC in this month's Siena poll. That's a 20 point swing from -22 statewide shortly before launch in December.

Corporate reimbursement for driving and parking barely even gets questioned. Biking that saves all that reimbursement? You’re expected to do it out of the goodness of your heart
When I was a civil servant in the '70s, I tried to claim "bicycle mileage" for work-related travel. Got cross-examined by the financial bureaucrats at the Transportation Ministry where I worked. "But," I said, "I had to consume an extra banana. Won't you at least reimburse me for that?"
Ok yeah I should link the video in question, I think it still holds up

Over 1,000 homes are on hold in Pittsburgh because of the Gainey administration’s flawed inclusionary zoning proposal. We warned this would happen. They denied it.

Now families are stuck waiting—and the city is pretending it’s not their fault.
NEWS - PGH’s inclusionary zoning push is causing some developers/investors to pause housing builds even before law is passed. One developer I spoke to isn’t wholesale against IZ, but says it needs tax breaks, mayor doesn’t seem keen on adding tax breaks in www.axios.com/local/pittsb...

seeing people post threads with "advice for trans girls starting out" and like, look, I intentionally don't seek a primarily-transfem audience on here, but all of these posts seem to assume that your friends are all going to be other trans women and if that's the case, you need to change that

Cory Booker has just broken Strom Thurmond's record for longest Senate filibuster ever, which stood for 68 years.

Thurmond set it objecting to the Civil Rights Act of 1957.

Booker set it arguing against authoritarianism.

May Strom's name be forgotten and his memory erased.
